FROM WASHINGTON EXAMINER: President Donald Trump suggested on Sunday that he may give Russian President Vladimir Putin an ultimatum of either facing Tomahawk missiles from Ukraine or stop the fighting in the over three-year war.
Trump made the comment aboard Air Force One while on his way to Israel, a trip that comes after securing a long-sought peace deal in the Gaza war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been urging Trump to supply his country with the American-made long-range missiles in order to get peace negotiations back on track.
“I might have to speak to Russia, to be honest with you, about Tomahawks. Do they want to have Tomahawks going in their direction? I don’t think so,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.
“I might say [to Putin], ‘Look, if this war is not gonna get settled, I may send [Ukraine] Tomahawks.,” he added.
Trump continues to pursue an end to the war in Ukraine, holding calls with Zelensky over the weekend even as he was seemingly focused on the ceasefire deal he had helped orchestrate between Israel and Hamas.
