REPORT: Trump Reendorses ‘RINO’ Congressman He Unendorsed Less Than A Month Ago

From the Daily Caller: President Donald Trump reendorsed Republican Colorado Rep. Jeff Hurd on Friday, less than a month after withdrawing his endorsement over Hurd’s vote against the president’s tariffs.

Trump wrote in a Friday post to Truth Social that Hurd’s primary opponent, former Colorado GOP vice chair and Navy veteran Hope Scheppelman, agreed to drop out of the race to join his administration “in a capacity to be determined.”

The president first endorsed Hurd for reelection in October 2025, but unendorsed him and backed Scheppelman in February after Hurd and six other Republicans sided with Democrats on a House resolution repealing Trump’s tariffs on Canada.

In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump announced:

I met with Hope Scheppelman and her husband Steven, of the Radical Left State of Colorado, to discuss various opportunities to serve our Country in a different capacity than her current run for the United States Congress. Hope and Steven are wonderful and patriotic Veterans of our U.S. Navy, and loyal supporters of our Historic MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN Movement. Therefore, I am proud to announce that they will be leaving the Campaign trail in order to join my Administration, in a capacity to be determined.

Together with them, we decided that Congressman Jeff Hurd, of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, should in no way, shape, or form, be impeded from winning the District in that the Democrat alternative is a DISASTER for our Country. Therefore, I will be fully supporting Jeff’s Re-Election to the House of Representatives, giving him my Complete and Total Endorsement!

Every true MAGA supporter and Republican, if they truly care about saving our Country, will do everything in their power to unify together, and defeat the Crazed Radical Left Democrats this November. If they seize power, they will spend every minute trying to “turn back the clock” to Record Inflation, Skyrocketing Prices, High Taxes, Open Borders, Men in Women’s Sports, Transgender for Everybody, Corrupt Elections, “Get Out of Jail Free Cards” for Violent Criminals, and Terrorists, and much more — We cannot let this happen!

It is time to stand together against the people that want to destroy our Great Nation, and vote for Jeff Hurd, who will do a fantastic job as your Congressman, including Growing the Economy, Cutting Taxes and Regulations, Promoting MADE IN THE U.S.A., Advancing American Energy DOMINANCE, Keeping our Border SECURE, Supporting our Military/Veterans, Defending our always under siege Second Amendment, and Ensuring PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH. Congratulations to Jeff Hurd and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DJT

Hurd later responded to Trump’s re-endorsement: 

I’m grateful for President Trump’s support and appreciate his efforts to unify Republicans in Colorado’s Third District.

The President and I share the same goals: securing the border, American energy dominance, and helping working families.

I will continue to focus on representing Colorado’s Third District, delivering results for rural Colorado, and running a serious campaign to earn the support of voters across the district. 🇺🇸

Meanwhile, Scheppelman announced that she has suspended her campaign, at the president’s request.  She wrote:

Washington, D.C. – Today, Hope Scheppelman, candidate for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, announced she has suspended her surging campaign to unseat freshman Republican Jeff Hurd. Citing President Trump’s request to withdraw, Scheppelman put the need to help preserve the Republican Party’s slim majority in the U.S. House and America First ahead of her personal ambitions.

“While my decision was difficult to make, I must put America First and do all I can to help ensure that the radical leaders in today’s Democrat Party do not take this seat and thereby plunge our great country into the destructive chaos we experienced during the Biden-Pelosi era,” said Scheppelman.

“Jeff Hurd now has the opportunity to correct his naive voting record and support President Trump, and our slim Republican majority in the U.S. House, in our shared battle to save the country we love. If he does not, I will run again in 2028 and defeat him in order to give the citizens of Colorado’s 3rd district, and all of America, the representation we deserve,” continued Scheppelman.

“To all my supporters, I encourage you to hold Jeff Hurd’s feet to the fire and demand he do his job to uphold the Constitution and advance the values that are making America great again. Our vigilance to put our country ahead of ourselves is the price we must pay to ensure our freedom and prosperity are preserved for our fellow citizens,” concluded Hope Scheppelman.
