President-elect Donald Trump is making it clear that he wasn’t joking about the possibility of the United States buying Greenland. And he is wasting no time.
Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., has flown to Greenland Tuesday morning. He is reportedly making the trip in a personal capacity, and is not expected to meet with country’s government officials.
In a Truth Social post Monday evening, Trump wrote, “I am hearing that the people of Greenland are “MAGA.” My son, Don Jr, and various representatives, will be traveling there to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights. Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation. We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”
Along with the post, Trump shared a video of a man in Greenland wearing a red MAGA hat who says he wants the U.S. to buy Greenland.
“Buy us. Buy Greenland,” the man says. “We don’t want to be colonized by Danish government anymore. We get ripped [off] every year [with] our minerals from Greenland. We are the richest nation in the world. And we don’t get to use it. Denmark’s using us too much.”

Tuesday morning, Trump announced that Don Jr. had just landed in Greenland.
“Don Jr. and my Reps landing in Greenland. The reception has been great. They, and the Free World, need safety, security, strength, and PEACE! This is a deal that must happen. MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!” he wrote.
