From the Daily CallerA new New York Times/Siena College poll shows former President Donald Trump pulling ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris by a slim margin.

Recent data now shows Trump polling at 48% with Harris behind by one point at 47% and 6% of voters still being undecided, according to the New York Times/Siena College. The poll, conducted from Sept. 3 to Sept. 6, surveyed 1,695 registered voters nationwide and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points for the likely electorate and plus or minus 2.6 percentage points for registered voters.

When including voters leaning toward third-party candidates, data shows Trump drops to 46% support but remains two points ahead of Harris at 44%, with 4% being undecided. Additionally, 2% of voters supported Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver.

However, when leaning voters were not included in the survey, Trump held 44% of the vote, with Harris at 42%, 7% undecided, 3% refusing to vote and 2% going to each Stein and Oliver, according to the polling.

The NY Times poll indicates voters don’t really know what Harris stands for.

“The survey found that 28 percent of likely voters said they felt they needed to know more about Ms. Harris, while only 9 percent said they needed to know more about Mr. Trump,” the Times wrote.

Below are more prominent excerpts from the poll:

If November is about change, Ms. Harris will need to make the case that she can deliver it. More than 60 percent of likely voters said the next president should represent a major change from Mr. Biden, but only 25 percent said the vice president represented that change, while 53 percent said Mr. Trump, the former president, did.

Another warning sign for Democrats: 47 percent of likely voters viewed Ms. Harris as too liberal, compared with 32 percent who saw Mr. Trump as too conservative.

The poll indicates that the one area where Harris is making progress is by pushing a hoax:

On the plus side for Ms. Harris, the Democrats’ hammering away at Project 2025 as a blueprint for another Trump presidency has sunk in. The former president has tried hard to distance himself from the document, drafted by the conservative Heritage Foundation with input from Trump allies, which lays out plans for a second Trump presidency.
