From Breitbart: Former President Trump called for an end to the tax many seniors pay on their Social Security income.
“SENIORS SHOULD NOT PAY TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY!” Trump announced (in all caps) through his Truth Social account Wednesday morning.
Currently, if you are single and your combined income (i.e., your Social Security income plus an outside job) exceeds $25,000, you may have to pay the standard income tax rate on up to $12,500 of your annual Social Security income. If you are single and your combined income exceeds $34,000, you may have to pay the standard income tax rate of up to 85 percent of that $34,000.
The thresholds are only a little higher for a joint income: $32,000 and $44,000.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) then announced that she will be introducing legislation to make this happen. She wrote:
American seniors worked hard their entire lives and paid into Social Security with every paycheck they got. I completely agree with President Trump! American seniors shouldn’t pay a penny of tax on Social Security.
It’s only right that the same system they’ve paid into their entire lives pays them back without penalty!
In Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s America, inflation is out of control! Seniors on fixed incomes can barely afford to stay in their homes or to buy groceries. This isn’t right!
I’ll be introducing legislation to end all taxes on Social Security for seniors.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) also announced, “Trump is correct. Taxing seniors on their Social Security retirement TWICE makes no sense. My bill, the Senior Citizens Tax Elimination Act (HR 3206), exempts Social Security retirement payments from taxation.”
