From The Hill: President Trump has fired a top U.S. military officer at NATO headquarters in Brussels, drawing ire from Democrat lawmakers.
Trump relieved of duty without explanation Navy Vice Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, the U.S. representative to NATO’s military committee. A combat veteran, helicopter pilot and the first female president of the Naval War College, she had been serving in the alliance role since December 2023.
Chatfield’s firing, first reported by Reuters, was quickly criticized by Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chair Mark Warner, who posted to social media that he was “deeply disturbed” by the act.
“I’m deeply disturbed by the firing of a top U.S. military officer at NATO, Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield – a combat veteran and helicopter pilot. Trump’s relentless attacks on our alliances and his careless dismissal of decorated military officials make us less safe and weaken our position across the world,” Warner fumed.

On March 8, 2024, the U.S. Mission to NATO had posted a video pushing “inclusion” and calling for more women in NATO, along with the following statement:
“On this #InternationalWomensDay our leaders #InspireInclusion. @USAmbNATO Julianne Smith, @USNATODefense Advisor Rachel Ellehuus, and U.S. Military Representative to NATO Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield talk about their leadership values. #IWD reminds us that we have to work to create societies free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination to allow more women to take seat at the table as we work towards a safer and more peaceful world.”

Alarms had already been sounded over Chatfield four months ago. X user American Accountability Foundation had posted the following account on December 9:
Meet Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield. Here’s a report on her priorities as a leader of the U.S. Navy. Is this someone who should be leading our men and women into battle?
“Just before the cake-cutting at the end of the Women’s Equality Day observance, Chatfield said she was pleased that the cake was decorated in purple, the color that represents a joint environment — many services working together.
“Our diversity is our strength,” she said, adding that the secrets are how to get the best out of each person and how to make sure that none of their talents is wasted. “Finding a way to be respectful of the differences is where our growth is.”
Chatfield summed up the importance of equal rights by quoting Slide 35 of the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute’s informational presentation on Women’s Equality Day: “Investing in gender equality and women’s empowerment can unlock human potential on a transformational scale.”

Ironically, while Chatfield touted her push for “inclusiveness” and repeatedly touted “gender equality” and “women’s empowerment”…. now that she has been fired, the liberal media claims the Trump administration is “disproportionately targeting women.”
Rumor has it that Chatfield refused to hang pictures of The President of The United States and the Secretary of Defense at NATO.
