From Fox News: The Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit will hear oral arguments Monday on whether a lower court can properly address the Trump administration’s efforts to deport Venezuelan nationals via a 1798 wartime law.
The administration asked for a stay pending appeal shortly after an initial March 15 order was issued, calling it a “massive, unauthorized imposition on the Executive’s authority to remove dangerous aliens who pose threats to the American people.”
The Trump administration had attempted to invoke a 1798 wartime authority to deport Venezuelan nationals, including alleged members of the gang Tren de Aragua (TdA), for a period of 14 days.
Last week, Obama-appointed, D.C.-based Judge James Boasberg issued an order to immediately halt any planned deportations of Venezuelan nationals to El Salvador. A plane carrying hundreds of U.S. migrants, including Venezuelan nationals removed under the law, arrived in El Salvador hours later despite the order.

So far, during the hearing on Monday, Boasberg has just denied the Trump administration’s motion to vacate his temporary restraining order in Venezuelan terror case.

Late Sunday night, President Trump responded to a report about Boasberg from Just The News. The report states:
Months before he blocked President Donald Trump’s deportations of illegal alien gang members, U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg attended a privately-funded legal conference in Idaho that featured sponsors and speakers who have expressed clear anti-Trump sentiments — particularly on immigration — and a theme that echoed the Democrat Party’s 2024 stated mission of saving democracy, according to a judicial ethics report.
Commenting on the report, Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, “This Judge is almost as conflicted (actually, not even close!) as the Judge whose daughter made Millions of Dollars representing Biden/Harris against me, while her father presided over a Fake Case against me, and refused to RECUSE himself. He should be disbarred! Crooked Alvin Bragg was the D.A. in the case. They put me under a GAG ORDER so that I could not talk about it. Miscarriage of Justice!!!”
In a Fox Business interview on Sunday, Attorney General Pam Bondi blasted Boasberg:
“This is an out of control judge, a federal judge trying to control our entire foreign policy, and he CANNOT do it.”
“He dragged us into court on a Saturday without any notice, and then he’s continuing these hearings. He’s trying to ask us about national security information, which he is absolutely not entitled to. We are appealing. We will be in court Monday again.”
“We will win. We will prevail. There are 261 reasons why Americans are safer today, and that’s because those people are now in an El Salvador prison – and we are going to follow the law and we are going to protect Americans.”
“There’s a reason why the current Democrats’ approval rating is at 29%. People want to be safe.”
“This is President Trump’s agenda to keep Americans safe. It’s basic public safety. Get these people out of our country as fast as we can. They’re not immigrants. They’re illegal aliens who are committing the most violent crimes you can imagine on Americans. M*rder, r*pes… ask the parents of all of these young women who have been violently strangled, r*ped and m*rdered.”
“We are going to continue to make America safe again because that’s President Trump’s agenda.”
