REPORT: Trump admin begins dismantling government-funded news outlet after Kari Lake discovers massive corruption, waste

From Fox News: President Donald Trump ordered the dismantling of news agency Voice of America, the U.S.’s state-funded media outlet that Trump has railed against for promoting biased media reports.

“Voice of America has been out of step with America for years. It serves as the Voice for Radical America and has pushed divisive propaganda for years now,” a senior White House official told Fox News Digital.

Trump signed an executive order on Friday that commands the dismantling of seven government offices, including the United States Agency for Global Media, which is the parent company of Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

“The non-statutory components and functions of the following governmental entities shall be eliminated to the maximum extent consistent with applicable law, and such entities shall reduce the performance of their statutory functions and associated personnel to the minimum presence and function required by law,” the EO reads.

President Trump had tapped former Arizona journalist Kari Lake, who ran unsuccessfully for both Arizona governor and the U.S. Senate, to lead the left-leaning government-funded media outlet.  Initially, Lake had reportedly hoped to reform and save the agency, but now says it’s so bad, it’s unsalvageable.

Lake has been exposing the “waste and corruption” she has found within the agency, and said she is horrified at what she has learned… including a 15-year lease on a brand near building that will cost a quarter of $1 million.

In a video statement on Friday, Lake announced, “MUST SEE: America, how do you feel about leasing a fancy Washington DC high-rise for a quarter of $1 billion? That’s exactly what the last administration did at the US Agency for Global Media. @KariLake exposes waste & corruption, and will work to root it out.”

“Worse yet, this building is not even equipped to do TV or Media broadcasting. That would cost millions of dollars more to build out. A Colossal waste! I am working right now to terminate this lease on behalf of the American Taxpayer,” she added in another post.

In a press release Saturday, Lake revealed more shocking details of the corruption she has found within the government-funded media network, including “massive national security violations, including spies and terrorist sympathizers and/or supporters infiltrating the agency.”

“This agency is not salvageable,” Lake wrote. “From top to bottom, this agency is a giant rot and burden to the American taxpayer – a national security risk for this nation – and irretrievably broken.”

“It is unfortunate that the work that was done by self-interested insiders in coordination with outside activist groups and radical leftist advocacy organizations to “Trump-Proof” the agency made it impossible to reform. In fact, they weren’t just “Trump-Proofing” the agency from political leadership, they were accountability-proofing the agency from the American people. They did all this while spending taxpayer money to create false narratives,” Lake wrote.

Employees of VOA were all sent an email on Saturday, announcing that they are on administrative leave with pay until further notice.

Lake shared a link to the executive order Saturday morning and announced, “The President has issued an Executive Order titled Continuing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy. It affects USAGM and its outlets VOA and OCB.

“If you are an employee of the agency please check your email immediately for more information.”

“There’s nothing more powerful than the truth. News outlets have used that power irresponsibly to lecture, indoctrinate, & work against America’s best interest. The people’s trust in the 4th Estate is broken. We need to rebuild that trust. That means we have a lot more work to do,” Lake wrote in a separate post on Saturday.

Sunday afternoon, Lake announced:

Like most Americans, I support the work President Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency are doing 100%.

None of President Trump’s hires are coming to Washington DC to become permanent creatures of the swamp. They are here to do a job: root-out fraud, waste, and abuse and reduce the size & scope of the federal government.

I plan stay only as much time as needed here in the swamp to help President Trump accomplish those goals.
