From the New York Post: A toddler was found wandering alone in the freezing cold outside a Jersey Shore home Monday after the child’s babysitter drank herself nearly to death, cops said.
A horrified neighbor rescued the poor tot in Brigantine just after 12:30 p.m. — then found drunk babysitter Jena Davidson unconscious inside the home, according to police.
The neighbor subsequently called the police, who responded to the call along with Brigantine Fire and EMS.
Davidson, a 35-year-old from Ventnor City, New Jersey, was given life support and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.
The toddler’s parent reportedly rushed home from work when notified of what had occurred.
The child’s father reportedly first learned the toddler was outside alone from a Ring doorbell camera, and called a neighbor for help. When the neighbor took the child back into the house, the babysitter was found passed out.
Davidson, who had been hired through Nanny Lane, a popular website used to find local babysitters, was later charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to a press release on Facebook by the Brigantine Police Department.
Davidson’s profile on the Nanny Lane website reads, “I am a Kindergarten teacher and I am currently going back to school to be a nurse. I have worked in childcare setting since I was 15 years old and I love kids.”
