From the Daily CallerRepublican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has pulled ahead of Democratic Rep. Collin Allred after polling published Saturday suggested the race was neck and neck, according to a Monday New York Times/Siena College poll.

survey of 800 likely voters published by GBAO Strategies Saturday found Cruz and Allred were tied, with Cruz having lost the entirety of the seven-point lead he held in May. Now, the tides appear to have shifted again, with the NYT/Siena College poll of 1,180 likely voters finding Cruz leads by 4% — roughly the same margin by which he defeated Beto O’Rourke in 2018.

Despite the slide, Allred continues to outpace Vice President Kamala Harris in the Lone Star State, with Harris trailing former President Donald Trump by 10%, according to the NYT/Siena survey. Allred’s poll numbers have been bolstered by black and brown voters, receiving support from 76% of black voters and 56% of Hispanic voters, compared to 71% and 50% for Harris, respectively.

Allred’s drop in the polls comes after he attended a Harris rally in Houston Friday, with Beyonce also joining the pair to give Harris her formal endorsement.

The latest New York Times/Siena College poll surveyed 1,180 voters in Texas and was conducted from Oct. 23 to 26.

“Colin Allred is Kamala Harris. They are both open border radicals. Colin Allred voted 100% with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during his first two years in office,” Cruz warned on Monday.
