From the Washington Examiner: The Oregon Department of Justice unveiled a Sanctuary Promise Community Toolkit as the sanctuary state gears up to resist the incoming Trump administration’s plan to deport illegal immigrants.
Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, a Democrat, said the toolkit, which is available as an online website, includes brochures, posters, and public service announcements in English, and Spanish.
“I asked my Civil Rights Unit here at the Oregon DOJ to do whatever we could to provide the people, businesses, and local governments of our state with easy-to-read materials to help them know their rights and educate others,” she announced in a press release.
“I recommend having conversations with family members in the next several weeks to know your rights, understand what protections Oregon’s sanctuary laws provide and what they do not provide, and make a plan for what to do if immigration officials come to your home or place of business,” Rosenblum added.
“The CRU Sanctuary Promise Community Toolkit is a free, online resource for those seeking to understand Oregon’s sanctuary laws and help ensure that our communities are safe for all. Everyone has the right to live, work, play, and learn safely in Oregon. This toolkit covers the essential information needed to understand, report, and combat violations of Oregon’s Sanctuary Promise Laws,” Rosenblum wrote on the Oregon DOJ website.
The toolkit is filled with a list of potential questions an illegal alien may have about how to dodge ICE agents, including:
- Oregon is a Sanctuary State. What exactly does that mean
- How do I prepare myself and my family for encounters with ICE or other federal immigration authorities?
- Is there a place I can call to report ICE or other federal immigration authorities active right now in my community?
- After an encounter with ICE or other federal immigration authorities, what information should I write down?
- How can I report a suspected violation of Oregon’s sanctuary laws?
The Oregon DOJ website also touts multiple videos for illegal aliens to watch, each titled, “We Have Rights,” including a video provided by the ACLU.
After President-elect Donald Trump’s victory was confirmed, Rosenblum wrote on X, “During former President Trump’s first term, we Democratic AGs stood firm against federal overreach—and we prevailed! I know Oregon’s AG-elect @DanRayfield and AGs across the US, with the @DemocraticAGs will safeguard our rights & values. Together, we’re ready for any challenge.”
