If the violent Tren de Aragua gang members who came illegally into the United States think they’re just going to be deported and allowed to sneak back in later, they may be in for a rude awakening.
The Trump administration is reportedly looking to ship them down to El Salvador’s infamous ‘mega prison.’
From Barrons.com: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio landed Monday in El Salvador to coordinate on migration with its iron-fisted leader, who has cast himself as an ally of President Donald Trump.
President Nayib Bukele has won popularity at home — and criticism from rights groups — with a sweeping crackdown on crime, which has also earned him hero status with some of Trump’s allies.
Rubio, on the second stop of his first trip as the top US diplomat, will discuss with Bukele whether El Salvador can take in gang members from American nemesis Venezuela.
“It was just a decade ago San Salvador was the murder capital of the world, and today it’s one of the safest cities in the world,” Mauricio Claver-Carone, the US special envoy on Latin America, said in a briefing on the trip.
Bukele’s efforts “are frankly the envy of a lot of countries throughout the Western Hemisphere,” he said, adding the measures have “really made him one of the most consequential leaders not only on security but a great ally on migration.”
CNN announced on Friday that Rubio is expected to discuss the possibility of deporting suspected Tren de Aragua gang members to El Salvador in an upcoming meeting with Salvadorean president Nayib Bukele.
President Nayib Bukele has built a high-security “mega prison” and has filled it with tens of thousands of MS-13 gang members, who will reportedly never see the light of day again.
Once considered the “murder capital of the world,” El Salvador is now described as one of the safest places to live.
Rubio was seen arriving at the El Salvador International Airport Monday morning, to meet with Bukele.

Bukele announced Friday that he has put about 40% of the prison population to WORK. He wrote:
40% of our prison population is already repaying its debt to society. In return, they receive a shorter sentence and learn a skill.
This program is NOT available for rapists and murderers.
They will help us build roads, hospitals, and schools; they will manufacture our uniforms and furniture; they will grow and harvest our crops; and they will help clean our rivers.

President Bukele has imprisoned roughly 80,000 gang members under terror laws he’s implemented in El Salvador – it’s a massive supermax prison. Now, El Salvador is one of the safest nations in the western hemisphere.
