From Fox News: Republican attorney and Marine veteran John Deaton of Bolton won a US Senate primary in Massachusetts on Tuesday and will now face longtime Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren in November.

Deaton, a personal injury attorney and crypto advocate, moved from Rhode Island to Massachusetts last year. He faced off in the primary against Ian Cain of Quincy, Massachusetts’ first black and openly gay city council member, and Bob Antonellis, an engineer and political newcomer from Medford.

Deaton has often told the story of his low-income upbringing in a violent and impoverished Highland Park neighborhood of Detroit. He said he’d watched a thief stab his mother and, on his first day of high school, had a gun shoved in his mouth.

He said he broke the cycle of poverty by working his way through college and law school before going on to join the Marine Corps and spending seven years as a special assistant to the U.S. attorney in Yuma, Arizona, fighting cartels in the 1990s.

Deaton, 56, has made the illegal immigration crisis the main focus of his campaign against Warren, in his effort to “retire” her from office.

The report notes that all polls show Warren is likely to hold on to her seat. However, Deaton is vowing to defeat her, and personally made a $1 million loan to his campaign, boosting his war chest.

Below is a campaign video Deaton released back in May, as he made the illegal immigration crisis as the main focal point of his campaign:

In a statement after his primary victory Tuesday night, Deaton wrote, “I am truly humbled by the tremendous outpouring of support and grateful for the faith the voters have placed in me. Tomorrow, we begin the next phase of the campaign – an effort that will hold Elizabeth Warren accountable for her failures on the border, the unaffordable cost of supporting a family, a broken healthcare system, abandoning our ally Israel, and restoring faith in our politics. Voters are turning their back on divisive partisan politics and are ready to support a message of optimism, unity, and solving problems.”

Last week, Deaton posted a video, along with the following message:

I will never forget where I came from. I grew up in generational poverty. Our family survived on food stamps, but still, sometimes we went to bed hungry. At the age of 14, I vowed I would break this cycle- that I would graduate college and if I was a father, I’d be a good one.

I am running to be your next U.S. Senator because I see the American Dream dying. I refuse to be part of the last generation where breaking the cycle of poverty is possible because of career politicians like @senwarren. Washington is broken, and it is crushing working and middle class families. I’m going to do something about it.
