Texas first indicated it would purchase the border wall materials that the Biden administration is auctioning off, and give it all to the incoming Trump administration. However, now Texas officials are claiming it’s all just “junk.”
FIRST, from Fox News: Officials in Texas say they are preparing to buy and store border wall materials being auctioned off by the federal government and keep them in place until the Trump administration takes office in January.
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick reacted to reports of continued auctions of border wall materials that have been left near the border after the sudden stop of border wall construction in 2021.
“I will bid on all of that wall, and we will buy it in Texas, and we will give it to Donald Trump,” Patrick said on “The Ingraham Angle.”
“I’ve got a billion dollars in my pocket to do it,” he said.

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham reacted to Patrick’s promise, writing on social media, “I stand fully prepared to help Lt. Gov @DanPatrick! If you buy it, I have a place to store it — on state land! The @TXGLO is standing by to help!”
“It’s absolutely shameful the Biden-Harris Administration is trying to offload taxpayer-purchased sections of border wall that has yet to be installed for pennies on the dollar!” she added.

However, Patrick later announced he had someone go look at the remaining border wall material, and claimed it’s just a “pile of junk.” The day after his interview with Ingraham, Patrick wrote in a social media post:
.@GovAbbott and I spoke last night about purchasing “wall” material President Biden is auctioning off. The Governor had already instructed the
@TFCtx, which oversees Texas’ border wall construction, to look at what Biden was selling.
The Texas Facilities Commission told us today that the material for sale was mostly junk, with most panels covered in concrete and rust. There were a few panels that might be usable but not worth the cost of shipping to Texas from Arizona.
In short, this was a Biden ruse to gain favor with the radical left open border crowd, showing Biden was fighting President Trump to the bitter end.
Rest assured, if they sell any panels that make economic sense, we will buy them and give them to President Trump when he takes office. Governor Abbott, the state legislature, and I all stand ready to help President Trump quickly secure our southern border.
