From The Hill: Former Republican presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy said the Trump campaign should reset and refocus its attacks on Vice President Harris’s policies.
In an interview with Politico, Ramaswamy said he saw a “missed opportunity,” as former President Trump and his campaign has focused largely on personal attacks, plus the size of her event crowds, rather than Harris’s record.
“I see a missed opportunity. But I’m keen to make sure we get on the right course, which is to go after her policy record,” Ramaswamy said. While she hasn’t spelled out specific policies yet, he notes “she’s been a U.S. senator, she’s been a vice president, and she’s been a 2020 presidential candidate, as well.”
He added that by looking at her stances, “that provides, I think, a very fertile basis for drawing policy contrasts that I don’t think we have done a good enough job yet of drawing.”
Ramaswamy told Politico that he has spoken to Trump about his thoughts, and Trump was receptive.
He said when Kamala Harris chose radical Democrat Gov. Tim Walz to be her running mate, he called up Trump and suggested it was the perfect chance to “shift the focus to policy.”
He suggested that if Republicans are able to better lay out their policy vision, “I think we can win this thing not only by a small margin but … something that resembles a landslide.”
In a social media post, Ramaswamy wrote:
Republicans need to hit a lot harder on Kamala’s *policy* record:
– Favors a tax on unrealized capital gains (which would trigger a second Great Depression)
– Sought to abolish private health insurance
– Favored a ban fracking
– Opposes offshore drilling
– Sought to end the filibuster for the Green New Deal
