From Fox News: Passengers aboard a taxiing aircraft were reportedly left horrified last month when chilling screams suddenly echoed from beneath the cabin just moments before takeoff.
According to the officials, a ground crew member became trapped inside the plane’s cargo hold when doors “inadvertently closed” behind him, according to local station CBC.
The incident happened on Dec. 13 when Air Canada Flight 1502 was preparing to depart Toronto Pearson Airport for Moncton, New Brunswick, the outlet said.
The Airbus flight, which was carrying 184 passengers, was ultimately canceled following the incident.
The report explains that as the plane began taxiing toward the runway for departure, passengers in the rear of the plane began hearing muffled banging and desperate screams coming from the luggage hold below them, and flight attendants ran down the aisle in alarm.
The plane stopped, and minutes later, the ground crew member safely exited the cargo hold and entered the cabin, assuring the shaken passengers on board that he was okay. CLICK HERE to see a video as the pilot is explaining to passengers what all the ruckus was about.
The plane finally returned to the terminal, and all passengers had to get off the plane, as the flight crew was required to complete paperwork on the ordeal.
After several delays, the flight was ultimately cancelled.
Instagram user “travel.with.stephy” shared a video and explained, “They never did get us to Moncton that day… 😅 And we are now being told this delay was « out of the airline’s control. » 🙄 We had already started taxiing when a baggage crew member was under the aircraft in the cargo and could be heard yelling for help and banging underneath us. Thankfully, he got out safely. ❤️ I still can’t believe this happened. 😳.”
