Another Democrat is now planning to travel to El Salvador to demand the release of deported illegal alien and alleged MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
This comes after Democrat Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland just returned back to the U.S. on Friday after traveling to El Salvador to meet with Abrego Garcia, who is being held at the CECOT prison there.
Abrego Garcia, 29, crossed the border into the United States ILLEGALLY on or about March 25, 2012, when he was 16 years old. He laater married a U.S. citizen. Abrego Garcia was arrested by immigration agents last month, and deported to El Salvador on flights with about 260 other illegal alien gang members.
Rep. Maxine Dexter (D-Ore.) announced her plans to go to El Salvador in a press release Friday night:
PORTLAND, OR – Today, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D. (OR-03) announced that she will travel to El Salvador to demand the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Mr. Abrego Garcia, a legal U.S. resident, was wrongfully deported to El Salvador—a fact the Trump Administration has acknowledged. He is now being held in a foreign prison, despite a clear, unanimous ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that the federal government must facilitate his return to the U.S.
“A legal U.S. resident has had his due process rights ripped away and is now being held indefinitely in a foreign prison. This is not just one family’s nightmare; it is a constitutional crisis that should outrage every single one of us,” said Congresswoman Dexter. “I will travel to El Salvador to confront this crisis head on. Our constitutional rights are on the line.”
Additional details of Rep. Dexter’s travel to El Salvador will be announced imminently.
