From the New York Post: NYU Langone Health, a major Manhattan hospital, will permanently ax its transgender treatment program for kids after the Trump administration threatened to pull federal funding.
The hospital is discontinuing the program that offered gender-related care for minors — blaming the move, in part, on the “current regulatory environment.”
“Given the recent departure of our medical director, coupled with the current regulatory environment, we made the difficult decision to discontinue our Transgender Youth Health Program,” a NYU Langone spokesman told The Post in a statement Wednesday.
“We are committed to helping patients in our care manage this change. This does not impact our pediatric mental health care programs, which will continue.”
The report notes that the hospital has now changed their website landing page for such care to read “Gender & Sexuality Service” rather than the previous “Transgender Youth Health Program.”

Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal, a Democrat who is openly gay and married to another man, complained that New York City hospitals have stopped performing gender transitions on children. In a post on X, he wrote:
I’m extremely disturbed and disappointed by the decision of a number of New York City hospitals to cease providing gender-affirming care to all patients under 19 years old.
This decision, prompted by the Trump administration’s threat to withhold Medicaid funding at the direction of Attorney General Pam Bondi and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., will jeopardize the lives and well-being of their patients.
Studies have shown that ending gender-affirming care after it has begun without patient consent can carry significant physical and mental health risks. For these young patients, gender-affirming care is life-affirming care.
