From the Daily Caller: CBS News editor in chief Bari Weiss is reportedly plotting to poach “Special Report” host Bret Baier from Fox News and install him as anchor of “The CBS Evening News,” according to multiple media outlets.

CBS named Weiss as editor-in-chief of CBS News after purchasing “The Free Press” for $150 million in early October. The move, first reported by Oliver Darcy in his Status newsletter, may not take place immediately, since Baier is under contract with Fox through 2028 at a salary of $14 million per year, according to Mediaite

Baier has anchored “Special Report” since January 2009 after spending 11 years in various roles with Fox News, including serving as White House correspondent, according to TV Insider.

The report explains that “CBS Evening News” is currently co-hosted by John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois after Norah O’Donnell stepped down as anchor in January.

Baier has recently been commended for calling out Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, a Democrat over the crime statistics in Chicago.

Baier asked, Why does Chicago have the highest murder rate of all the big cities?”

Pritzker replied, “We’re not in the top 30.”

But Baier then showed the governor a map listing Chicago as number one.
