From Fox News: The Mexican government is working hard to break up migrant caravans trying to make the treacherous journey north to the U.S. ahead of President-elect Trump’s inauguration in less than two weeks’ time.
Faced with the prospect of massive tariffs on goods under the new administration, Mexico has been dispersing migrants throughout the country to keep them far from the U.S. border, including dropping them off at the once vibrant tourist hotspot of Acapulco, a beach resort town on Mexico’s Pacific coast made famous by the jet set in the 1950s and ’60s.
Once a crown jewel of Mexico’s tourism industry, the city now suffers under the thumb of organized crime and is still struggling to climb back after taking a direct hit from powerful Hurricane Otis in 2023. It now has one of Mexico’s highest rates of homicides.
Yet authorities are dropping busloads of migrants there with little support and few options.
The report explains that the Mexican government is allowing the migrants to walk for days until they’re exhausted. Then, instead of busing them back home, the migrants are offered bus rides to various cities where the are told that their immigration status will be reviewed.
The cites where the migrants are being bused to agreed to the arrangement, with the understanding that the migrants would soon be on their way. Now, those cities are getting fed up with the migrants sleeping in tents in their streets and public spaces.

Independent journalist Auden B. Cabello announced last weekend:
The first caravan of 2025 that departed yesterday from Tapachula, Chiapas continues moving north to central Mexico. Under Claudia Sheinbaum, this is the 9th caravan that departs southern Mexico. Below is a list of previous caravans.
The majority of the migrants are from Venezuela, but the caravan also includes people from Guatemala, El Salvador, Peru and Ecuador. As the caravan moves north, it will gradually disintegrate into ant operation, where small groups arrive at the border by train or bus at different times and sizes. The goal is to reach the border and get into the US before January 20.

Cabello revealed that the Mexican government is actually AIDING the migrant caravans. He wrote: How is Mexico Dismantling the Caravans?
Through the National Institute of Migration (INM), Mexico is issuing 20-day Multiple Migration Forms (FMM) to migrants in the Escuintla camp, enabling them to legally transit through Mexico toward the northern border.
This action aligns with President Claudia Sheinbaum’s commitment to manage migration flows by providing humanitarian assistance and facilitating orderly movement.
The issuance of FMMs is part of a broader strategy to address the challenges posed by large migrant caravans, ensuring migrants receive necessary documentation and support during their journey.
That is how small groups have managed to arrive to border towns like Juarez, Piedras Negras, and Reynosa where they then cross illegally and turn themselves in to Border Patrol.
For a visual overview, in the video below, immigration officials and telling migrants to get their form so they can travel freely for 20 days, enough time to reach the border before January 20.

These are just two FMM forms littered by the thousands on the banks of the Rio Grande. They are discarded once migrants arrive to the river and cross. Some are found on the US side, but covering the border crisis from the Mexican side, they are more evident.
These are old from my archives, but you can see where the migrant is from, the date it was issued, how many days it’s valid, and issued for “humanitarian reasons”.

Cabello announced Monday: New Caravan to Depart from Honduras
A new caravan of Honduran migrants has begun organizing at the Gran Central Metropolitana in San Pedro Sula, aiming to journey to the United States in search of better opportunities despite warnings from the incoming Trump administration about having mass deportations.
The group plans to commence their trek in the early morning hours, with expectations that more individuals will join in the coming hours. Migrants cite insecurity and lack of employment in Honduras as primary motivators for their decision, expressing that they see no other way to improve their living conditions.
Notably, the caravan includes several minors, raising societal concerns. Images of the group have circulated widely on social media, prompting comments about the hardships children may face on such a journey.
Despite these obstacles, many Hondurans continue to pursue a better future, willing to face the dangers of a potentially perilous journey northward, driven by the hope of improved living conditions.
