From the Daily Caller: A male high school student dominated a girls’ pole vaulting competition in Maine after the state refused to comply with President Donald Trump’s order to separate sports by gender.

The student, who goes by Katie Spencer, jumped the highest out of his team at 11 feet, winning Greely High School a state championship but drawing outrage from women’s sports advocates. The Maine Principals’ Association announced three days earlier that it would continue allowing males who identify as transgender to take women’s sports titles despite the White House’s policies against it, WMTV8 reported.

Photos posted online and media coverage of the event confirm Spencer’s identity. He currently ranks in the top 10 for girls’ pole vaulting in the state.

“The decision by the Maine Principals’ Association to continue allowing male athletes to compete against female athletes in school athletic competitions is outrageous,” Maine State Rep. Laurel Libby, a Republican, said in a statement provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Not only does their decision violate President Trump’s February 5 Executive Order but it jeopardizes the safety and privacy of female athletes, all while allowing male athletes to take medals, trophies, and podium spots away from women, effectively erasing them.”

Spencer, a biological boy, was originally known as John Spencer. Now he’s playing on the girls’ team and goes by ‘Katie.’

Maine state Rep. Laurel Libby wrote:

Another day, another instance of an unremarkable biological male athlete (who couldn’t win against other males) dominating girls’ sports.

Meet John, who now goes by Katie. John won the girl’s pole-vaulting state championship in Maine, after the state deliberately ignored current federal rules and allowed him to compete.

Two years ago, John placed FIFTH in boys’ pole vaulting. Yet, this year (when competing against girls) this unfair win propelled his school’s girls’ team to win the overall state championship.

The Maine Principals’ Association’s blatant disregard for federal rules means that deserving, BIOLOGICAL girls, have titles ripped away from them. This is outrageous, and unfair to the many female athletes who work every single day to succeed in their respective sports.

Kaitlynn Wheeler, ambassador at the Riley Gaines Center, wrote, “Maine just handed a GIRLS’ state pole vault title to a male athlete competing in the girls’ division. This is beyond ridiculous & an insult to every girl who’s worked their butt off to earn that title. It’s time to stop rewarding this unfairness. Pull the federal funding @PamBondi @POTUS & put a stop to this nonsense.”
