According to a report by the Daily Mail over the weekend,Kamala Harris isn’t ready to give up on her political ambitions, despite her crushing loss to Republican Presidential-elect Donald Trump.
Political insiders who know Harris told the Daily Mail that they expect the defeated Democrat to make another try for the Oval Office. If she did so, it would be her third attempt.
Harris had to give up her presidential race in the 2020 Democrat primary, after failing to gain any traction or fundraising. She then landed the role of Joe Biden’s running mate and became vice president.
When Biden dropped out of the 2024 race, he endorsed Harris to take his place, and she was handed the Democratic nomination, along with over $1 billion in donations, without having to go through a single primary.
However, her four-month campaign ended in a brutal defeat to Trump, and over $20 million in debt.
But one Democrat strategist told the Daily Mail, “Of course she’s going to try and run again.”
The Daily Mail notes that polls show Harris as the current frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, with 41 percent support from Democrats.
However, the recent Puck News/Echelon Insights survey also showed that 59 percent of Democrats would like to look at other potential candidates, instead of Harris, in 2028.
“Kamala can run again and hopefully will improve as a messenger but I think the concerns about her ability to convey a coherent message still remain,” one Democratic strategist predicted.
