From Breitbart: An illegal alien, convicted of rape, smirked as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested him in the sanctuary state of Maryland, which had previously protected him from federal immigration enforcement, exclusive footage shared with Breitbart News shows.
On May 22, ICE agents arrested 20-year-old illegal alien Alex Yonatan Flores-Arce in Howard County, Maryland. Footage shows Flores-Arce crack a smile at an agent as he is taken into federal custody where he will await deportation from the United States.
Flores-Arce first crossed the U.S.-Mexico border on March 12, 2019, near El Paso, Texas as part of a family unit. Border Patrol agents served him a Notice to Appear (NTA) before a federal immigration judge at a later date.
On Oct. 17, 2o24, Flores-Arce was arrested by the Howard County Police Department and charged with second-degree rape. He was convicted on April 29 and sentenced to 15 years in prison and five years of supervised probation.
Despite the 15-year prison sentence, Howard County officials bizarrely released Flores-Arce from custody on May 5, ignoring an ICE detainer that had been filed back in January. A few days later, he was re-arrested for violating his probation terms, but Howard County officials released him again out into the public.
ABC13 WHAM also reported on the case, noting ICE has finally nabbed Flores-Arce. But again, no explanation is given on why he was freed by local officials after receiving a 15-year prison sentence.
ICE posted the following announcement on X Thursday morning:
Alex Yonatan Flores-Arce is a CONVICTED RAPIST and criminal Honduran alien.
We lodged an immigration detainer against him with Howard County, Md., Jan. 13. In other words, we asked them not to release him into the public because we planned to arrest him on immigration violations.
The events of the past several months are SHOCKING, but they show the struggles ICE faces dealing with sanctuary jurisdictions:
Oct. 17, 2024 | Howard County police arrested and charged Flores with second-degree rape.
April 29, 2025 | The Howard County circuit court convicted him & the judge sentenced him to 15 years of confinement plus five years of supervised probation.
May 5 – 22, 2025 | Howard County released him into the public, then arrested him again for probation violation and released him again from custody!
Fortunately, ICE Baltimore’s fugitive operations team arrested him AT-LARGE as he walked out of the jail May 22.
He has a final removal order now and is no longer a risk to the community.

Why is Hoco releasing convicted rapists back into our community? Wth is wrong with you? This is how you set the stage for more innocent victims. How can the Hoco community vote out whomever made this idiotic and morally reprehensible decision – https://t.co/8wl7fnKaPC
