From the Washington Free Beacon: CNN analyst Bakari Sellers wrote and later deleted an X post blaming President Donald Trump for Wednesday’s deadly midair collision between a commercial airplane and an Army helicopter near Washington, D.C.
Sellers posted a screenshot of a statement from House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Democrats claiming that Trump implemented a “dangerous” hiring freeze on air traffic controllers. “8 days ago,” Sellers wrote in a caption accompanying the photo.
Trump’s executive order instituting a broad hiring freeze exempted positions related to public safety, and a follow-up order directed the Federal Aviation Administration to “immediately return to non-discriminatory, merit-based hiring, as required by law.”
Sellers posted his comment at 10:05 p.m.—less than 90 minutes after an American Airlines flight from Wichita, Kan., crashed into an Army Blackhawk helicopter as the commercial plane approached Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport for landing. Both aircraft fell into the Potomac River. Officials believe none of the 67 people on the plane and helicopter survived.
Sellers was pointing to a January 22 press release by Democrats on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, as they falsely claimed that Trump had ordered a hiring free on air traffic controllers.
However, Trump’s hiring freeze executive order on January 20 specifically states, “This order does not apply to military personnel of the armed forces or to positions related to immigration enforcement, national security, or public safety.”
Trump’s order also states, “Accordingly, this memorandum does not prohibit making reallocations to meet the highest priority needs, maintain essential services, and protect national security, homeland security, and public safety.”
In a post at 10:44 pm ET, Sellers admitted, “I deleted the post because timing matters. Politics at this point does not. I fucked up, I own that. I am very prayerful but I’m also very frustrated upset and disturbed with where we are as a country. I recognize, and I will do better. The only thing that matters is rescuing the survivors, and ensuring this never happens again.”

Screenshots of Sellers blaming Trump’s “hiring freeze” have already been captured, even though he did delete the post… and he is being shredded over it.
Author and Free Beacon editor Peter Hasson wrote, “They are fishing corpses out of the Potomac, families are praying their loved ones miraculously survived, we haven’t the faintest clue yet what caused the crash, and Bakari is already frantically (and publicly!) looking for a way to blame it on Trump. What a broken human being.”

You deleted the post because dozens of Americans are currently being fished out of the Potomac, and rather than have reverence for the victims, you chose to dishonestly (and despicably) blame @realDonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/djduf7OqE3

CNN moron who said Dawn Staley was a hero for welcoming men on her women’s basketball team and ripped @outkick and me for asking the question of her immediately sent a Tweet blaming Donald Trump for last night’s plane crash. Elite work here @Bakari_Sellers, well done. pic.twitter.com/FF6sKihvbD

Unreal. @Bakari_Sellers is a pathetic example of what happens when your religion is politics. A plane crash & your first response is to blame your political enemy. This is pagan neo-Gnosticism. A hiring freeze 8 days ago isn’t why a Black Hawk pilot failed to visually separate. pic.twitter.com/aXEWV1lQmp

During an on-air broadast, another CNN host tried to lay blame on the Trump administration and the presidential transition period.
CNN couldn't even wait an hour before attempting to blame the tragic mid-air collision over Reagan National (DCA) on President Trump.
Instead of praying for the victims of American Airlines Flight 5342 & the helicopter, they do this. Communists are sick. pic.twitter.com/4DSabwrZ1H
