From NBC 4 New York: A large Palestinian flag was unfurled on the Brooklyn tower of the Williamsburg Bridge on Monday morning.
The flag was waving from the tower’s highest point, as seen in the images below from Chopper 4. Crews were spotted on the tower, possibly working their way up to the flag. The Williamsburg Bridge, which connects Brooklyn to Manhattan, was shut down in both directions due to police activity, NotifyNYC alerted the public at 9:56 a.m.
The bridge was later reopened at 10:10 a.m., according to another notification.
Around the same time, an NYPD spokesperson said police received an anonymous call about the flag and a unit responded to remove it. The incident is under investigation, according to police.
The height of the Brooklyn tower of the bridge is reportedly 310 feet.
