From the New York Post: Juan Jaime, a pitcher who made several appearances for the Atlanta Braves in 2014 and ’15, has died of a heart attack, according to MLB reporter Hector Gomez.
Jaime was 37.
A native of San Cristobal in the Dominican Republic, Jaime first signed as an amateur free agent with the Montreal Expos at the end of 2004, right before they officially moved to Washington and became the Nationals.
The right-hander pitched in the Nationals’ minor league system from 2006-09 but his career was derailed by arm injuries.
Jaime returned to the game in 2012 and began working his way up pitching for several leagues, including the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Most recently, he pitched for Tigers in the Colombian winter league in 2023-24, the report states.
The Cartagena Tigers released the following statement:
The Tigres de Cartagena y Bolivar organization deeply regrets the death of Dominican pitcher Juan Jaime.
Jaime was part of our organization during the 2023/2024 season, standing out not only as a great pitcher, but also for his camaraderie and joy, qualities that he marked both on and off the field of play.
Juan Jaime played in the Major Leagues with the Atlanta Braves, having Colombian cousins Julio Teherán Pinto and Sugar Ray Marimón as teammates.
We again express our deep regret for this unfortunate loss, sending a message of strength and solidarity to all his family and loved ones.

Writing about the way-too-young death of Juan Jaime reminds me of when he was traded for Juan Uribe. I spent part of that night’s Braves-Dodgers game in a hallway between the clubhouses at Dodger Stadium, seeing if Uribe would walk over with his equipment. https://t.co/hqEt66hFRQ
