From Live5News: As families and communities continue to identify victims in Wednesday night’s plane crash near Washington, D.C., there’s now news that a well-known civil rights attorney and former Miss Kansas contestant is among the 67 people who were killed.
Kiah Duggins was an attorney with Civil Rights Corps. She grew up in Wichita and attended Wichita East High School.
In 2015, she represented the Miss Kansas Organization as Miss Butler County.
Duggins, 30, had earned her undergraduate degree from Wichita State University, then attended and graduated from Harvard Law School.
The report explains that Duggins, who lives in Washington, D.C., had come to Wichita to spend time with her family, as her mother had just undergone surgery.
She was on her way back home to D.C., seconds away from safety, when the U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter flew into the path of the flight she was on, as it was coming in for landing.
