From Fox Business: A union representing thousands of federal and government workers landed members a work from home deal ahead of the incoming Trump administration’s efforts to force workers to return to office.

The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) reached an agreement with the Social Security Administration (SSA) to protect telework, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing messages viewed by the outlet.

The updated contract, which affects 42,000 government employees, will allow workers to stay hybrid until 2029.

The deal was signed by President Biden’s former SSA Commissioner, Martin O’Malley.

Bloomberg’s Josh Eidelson announced, “Biden’s Social Security head agreed to lock in hybrid work protections for tens of thousands of staff, part of a slew of union efforts that complicate Trump’s workforce plans. Unions are also pushing for an executive order on extending contracts.”

Conservatives are responding in fury.

Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) wrote, “THOUSANDS of federal employees just landed a work from home deal ahead of @realDonaldTrump taking office. This is why I introduced the SHOW UP Act. Our government needs to show up for the people it serves. Time to hold the bureaucracy accountable. @elonmusk @VivekGRamaswamy.”

Pershing Square CEO Bill Ackman commented on the Bloomberg report, warning, “Biden is attempting to make permanent the Deep State before he leaves office by burdening the government with untenable contracts so that @realDonaldTrump⁩ and @DOGE cannot succeed. This needs to stop now. ”

Elon Musk reacted with two exclamation points.

And prominent X user “Wall Street Apes” wrote, “90% of bureaucrats DEFINITELY need to be terminated immediately as soon as Donald Trump gets inaugurated. The Deep State must be completely irradiated or it’ll keep coming back.”
