REPORT: Far-left group calls to fly U.S. flags upside-down

From Breitbart: The far-left Women’s March Foundation is calling for the American flag to be flown upside down across the country as a sign of “distress” over President Donald Trump sending troops to support the National Guard during the ongoing Los Angeles anti-ICE riots.

“We are watching a dictator take over — in real time. The upside down flag is the warning signal to the world that American democracy is in distress. It is not unpatriotic to resist; it is unpatriotic to stay silent,” Women’s March Foundation President Emiliana Guereca claimed in a press release on Tuesday.

The group’s press release was branded as an “SOS,” and referred to flying flags upside down as a “historic signal of distress [and] as a visible act of resistance to the escalating authoritarian threat.” The group’s upside-down flag campaign runs through Saturday, which is Flag Day.

The UPSIDE-DOWN AMERICAN FLAG has an important place in American history and the fight for rights from abolition of slavery, protesting unjust wars, to women’s rights.

It has been used for centuries – first by sailors in distress and now by military and civilians alike to signal grave and immediate danger. It originates from the International S.O.S. distress signal, established in the early 1900s and universally recognized as a call for help. In U.S. military protocol, flying the American flag upside down signals life-threatening danger to life or property.

The Women’s March Foundation urges all Americans to participate in this national moment of resistance.

The group also instructs people to call their hotline “if ICE is seen in your neighborhood or someone is detained.”

On social media, the Women’s March wrote:

Everyday, hardworking people are being torn away from their jobs and homes in unmarked vans, without warrants or due process of any kind.
