Below is an excerpt from a report by the Daily Mail: ‘First Buddy’ Elon Musk has hunkered down at Donald Trump’s exclusive Mar-a-Lago club as the president elect forms the agenda for his second term.
The Tesla billionaire – who has been a steadfast supporter of Trump since July – has even joined high stakes meetings while reportedly ‘renting’ a $2,000-per-night cottage just outside the main residence.
The world’s richest man – and co-chair of the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) – has been busy sparring with both liberals and conservatives on social media in the past few days.
But Musk has become somewhat of a tenant at Trump’s famous Florida club and is expected to return shortly.
According to a New York Times report, Musk has been staying at a cottage called ‘Banyan’ that rents at a rate of $2,000 each night and is located several hundred feed away from the main house.
Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, reportedly joined him there to spend Thanksgiving with the Trump family. Musk has also brought two of his children with him, along with their nannies.
While staying at Mar-a-Lago, Musk has joined Trump in multiple meetings and dinners with visiting dignitaries and business leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and others. He has also reportedly joined Trump on phone calls with foreign leaders, and spent hours in Trump’s office during the transition planning.
Mr. Musk’s employees from his various businesses have also been integrally involved in the transition, vetting prospective candidates for senior administration jobs, the New York Times alleged.
Musk reportedly left Mar-a-Lago around Christmas, but is expected to return soon.
Trump posted what appeared to be a direct message to Musk on his Truth Social page last Friday.
“Where are you? When are you coming to the ‘Center of the Universe,’ Mar-a-Lago. Bill Gates asked to come, tonight. We miss you and x! New Year’s Eve is going to be AMAZING!!! DJT,” he wrote.
Vice-president elect JD Vance has also frequently stayed in one of the cottages at Mar-a-Lago during the transition period.
