From The Hill: Americans are getting married older. Millennials don’t want to follow in their parents’ footsteps. Maybe it’s too expensive to get married. Maybe it’s too expensive to get divorced.

Whatever the reason may be, divorce is growing less and less common.

Between 2012 and 2022, the divorce rate declined 28 percent, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

However, there are 14 states bucking the trend, where the divorce rate is still “significantly higher” than the national average.

The report lists the top 14 states which have the highest divorce rate, along with the estimated divorce rate per 1,000 women:

  1. Arkansas – 11.9
  2. Wyoming – 11.0
  3. Kentucky – 9.9
  4. West Virginia – 9.7
  5. Oklahoma – 9.3
  6. Idaho – 9.2
  7. Tennesee – 9.1
  8. Alabama – 9.1
  9. Indiana – 9.0
  10. Georgia – 8.7
  11. Colorado – 8.5
  12. Louisiana – 8.5
  13. Maryland – 8.4
  14. North Carolina – 8.2

Meanwhile, the 10 states with the lowest divorce rate are listed as California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont and Wisconsin..
