From Fox News: As fires wreak havoc in California, Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., claimed in a post on X the catastrophe is “what a climate emergency looks like.” In another tweet, he took aim at President-elect Trump, asserting the incoming president has been bought off by the oil industry.

“Trump has been bought for $1 billion by Big Oil. Just a payoff to kill the IRA and the Green New Deal. We know what will happen. More fires, more climate disasters, more death. The LA fires are preview of coming atrocities,” Markey declared in a post on X.

On Friday, Markey again tried to pin the blame on Trump, writing, “Los Angeles is on fire. Donald Trump says drill baby drill and stop wind and solar. He will add fuel to the fire.”

In yet another post, Markey again pointed fingers at Trump and Republicans, accusing them of pushing ‘misinformation’ while spewing wild allegations himself.

“The policy proposals to address and adapt to climate change exist—we’ve had them for years. But Donald Trump and Republicans are standing in the way of lifesaving climate action with climate denial, misinformation, and Big Oil-beholden nominees. We can’t let them,” he wrote.

In another post, Markey tied artificial intelligence to the “climate.”

I want to talk to you about AI and our climate.
Increased AI use could lead to:

– doubling data center electricity demand by 2026
– increased carbon emissions
– water supply shortages
– electronic waste

We are already facing a climate crisis. We can’t let AI make it worse.

Meanwhile, Markey is delighted that the Biden administration has just shielded nearly one million illegal aliens from deportation.

“I am glad that President Biden has extended protections for hundreds of thousands of immigrants in the US, including those from Venezuela and El Salvador who have stood up for democracy. I am with them in this fight,” he wrote.

Markey is getting blasted on social media.  Below are just a sampling of the responses pouring in:
