From Fox News: Many conservatives on social media were outraged over what they called Democrats’ “pathetic” plan to visit an El Salvadoran prison in protest of the Trump administration’s deportation policies.

Axios reported on Tuesday that Reps. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., and Maxwell Frost, D-Fla., sent a letter to House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., requesting an official congressional delegation (CODEL) to conduct a “welfare check” of deported El Salvadoran and alleged MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

The Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s order last week requiring the government to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s release after what the Trump administration admitted was an “administrative error.” However, the White House has defended the deportation based on Abrego Garcia’s alleged ties to MS-13, a designated terrorist organization, and said his release is up to El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele.

Several Democrats have attacked the Trump administration for this decision, with Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen revealing on Tuesday that he plans to travel to El Salvador himself to “show solidarity” with Abrego Garcia if he is not returned.

While El Salvadoran president Nayib Bukele was visiting President Trump in the Oval Office on Monday, the two leaders were asked about returning Abrego Garcia to the U.S.  Trump noted that he couldn’t tell El Salvador what to do with their own citizen, and Bukele declared that he couldn’t smuggle a terrorist and gang member into the U.S.  Their responses made it clear there are no plans to bring Abrego Garcia back to the U.S.

Democrat Sen. Chris Van Hollen (MD) traveled to El Salvador on Wednesday, and is going all out to document his trip on social media.

“I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home,” the Democrat senator gushed in an early-morning post on Wednesday.

Hours later, Van Hollen added, “I just landed in San Salvador a little while ago, and I look forward to meeting with the team at the U.S. embassy to discuss the release of Mr. Abrego Garcia. I also hope to meet with Salvadoran officials and with Kilmar himself. He was illegally abducted and needs to come home.”

“I just met with the Vice President of El Salvador as we fight for the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. I’m speaking to the press now with the latest on our efforts,” Van Hollen later announced, while in El Salvador.

Van Hollen told reporters that he asked Bukele if he could visit Abrego Garcia in the CECOT prison, but Bukele told him he was “not able to make that happen.”

Bukele also denied Van Hollen’s request to speak with Abrego Garcia by phone, and said he might could grant that request if the American Embassy requested it.

Progressive Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) raged, “Kilmar Abrego Garcia was wrongly deported to El Salvador as part of the Trump Administration’s government-funded kidnapping rampage. He is rotting away in a foreign prison where his life is in danger. We need to go there now to make sure he’s okay.”

Democrat Sen. Cory Booker (NJ) is also planning to travel to El Salvador to check on the deported illegal alien, according to Axios reporter Stephen Neukam. Neukam repeated the same phrase all liberal media has been parroting, calling the illegal alien El Salvadoran a “Maryland man.”

“Cory Booker is in the process of planning a trip to El Salvador with other Democrats, Axios has learned. A bunch of Democrats eyeing a trip to the country where a Maryland man was unjustly deported,” he wrote.

Booker fumed in a post on X Tuesday, “The Supreme Court was clear: the Trump administration must act to facilitate the return of Kilmer Abrego Garcia to the United States. There is no room for debate — yet Trump is refusing, in defiance of a lawful court order.

“Every member of Congress should be standing up for the Constitution and demanding that the administration act to return Mr. Abrego Garcia to the U.S. and to his family. And we must all remember an attack on the right to Due Process of anyone is a threat to the due process rights of everyone.”

REACTIONS

Border Czar Tom Homan lambasted Democrats for going all-out to try to bring the illegal alien El Salvadoran back to the U.S.

WATCH:

Matt Van Swol declared, “Please help me understand why Cory Booker didn’t visit people in Western North Carolina suffering after Hurricane Helene……BUT IS PLANNING ON VISITING AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT IN ANOTHER COUNTRY?!!!!!!!!”

“By all means, all Democrats need to go. Please go show your support for an MS 13 gang member. You’re doing great,” X user Spitfire mocked.

X user Howie wrote, “They couldn’t even be bothered to stand and clap for Laken Riley’s family but will fly to El Salvador for an illegal immigrant with gang ties.”

Caroline Downey of The National Review wrote, “Democrats will orchestrate an elaborate international photo op on behalf of non-citizens but won’t even stand to pay respects to the family of Laken Riley who was murdered by an illegal alien.”

Former Trump campaign official Tim Murtaugh suggested, “They should go. Let the whole country see that they care more about illegal aliens than they do about law-abiding Americans. There could never be a clearer example. Also, this is further proof that the grip the extreme left has on Democrats is increasingly tighter.”

GOP deputy comms director Abigail Jackson wrote:

1. He’s an illegal aliens, not a “Maryland man.”
2. It’s pathetic watching Democrats care more about illegal aliens with gang ties than they do about their own constituents who were murdered by illegal aliens.
This is why they lost and will keep losing.

Angel Mom Patty Morin SLAMMED Sen. Van Hollen for going to El Salvador: “I’m actually outraged… He did not call our family; he did not give condolences. There was no action… in Maryland none of the Senators did anything to help search for the murderer of my daughter.”

Van Hollen literally claimed that Kilmar Abrego Garcia “was illegally ABDUCTED and deported by the Trump Admin. He must be brought home NOW.”

Trump advisor Stephen Miller mocked Van Hollen, saying he “seems to be under the very confused impression that this MS-13 terrorist is his constituent. He is President Bukele’s constituent. He is President Bukele’s citizen. He is President Bukele’s resident. He is not a Maryland man. He is not a Maryland anything.”
