From the New York Post: Corey Lewandowski is expected to depart the Department of Homeland Security after President Trump fired Secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday — ending his reign of terror over agency staff.
Lewandowski has served as Noem’s de facto chief of staff and tightly controlled department operations, building a reputation for abruptly firing staff and instilling fear among fellow Trump aides.
“The end of Corey Lewandowski’s reign represents a return to responsible and accountable governance,” an administration official told The Post. “The nation welcomes Senator [Markwayne] Mullin’s nomination.”
A White House official said they assume Lewandowski will be swiftly out of power as soon as Mullin assumes command later this month, remarking: “Don’t know who would want him.”
The report describes Noem and Lewandowski’s years-long alleged affair as “the worst-kept secret in Washington”, and said the relationship dates back to her time as governor of South Dakota. In 2023, a source told The Post that Noem’s husband, Bryon Noem, had moved out of the governor’s mansion about two years previous to that.
Lewandowski is believed to be currently living with Noem, the Post also wrote.
During Wednesday’s congressional hearing, Democrat Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove of California asked Noem, “At any point in your tenure at DHS, have you had sexual relations with Corey Lewandowski?”
“I am shocked that we are peddling tabloid garbage in this Committee today,” Noem responded.
“That is garbage and it is offensive that you have brought that up,” she also stated.
Noem never denied the allegation.
