From Fox News: CNN chief White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins apparently deleted a social media post after receiving backlash for appearing to promote a defense fund for Luigi Mangione, the alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO killer.
In the post on X, Collins showed a link to a new website launched by defense lawyers for Mangione, who faces charges of first-degree murder in furtherance of an act of terrorism, stalking and other state and federal charges in New York and Pennsylvania for allegedly gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan on Dec. 4, 2024. Thompson was a married father of two.
Mangione, 26, who was born into a wealthy Maryland family, was arrested at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pa., on Dec. 9 after a multi-state manhunt. Following his arrest, followers donated over $300,000 for his legal defense.
In the now-deleted post, Collins wrote, “Luigi Mangione’s legal defense team has launched a new website today.” She then included the link to his website: luigimangioneinfo.com. The website has a “contribute” tab, and includes the following statement from Mangione on the main home page:
“I am overwhelmed by – and grateful for – everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support. Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial, and even class divisions, as mail has flooded MDC from across the country, and around the globe. While it is impossible for me to reply to most letters, please know that I read every one that I receive. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write. I look forward to hearing more in the future.” -Luigi Mangione
The website links to a GiveSendGo page for Mangione, which shows that donors have so far sent him over $469,000, as of this report.
Guess it wasn’t White House Correspondent related.

Amid the backlash, Collins is defiant and unapologetic.
“This is not true. I posted that his attorneys created a website, which is newsworthy and other outlets have also reported on. In no way did I share a fundraising link for him,” she claimed.

Collins is still getting pounded on social media:
So you a) you didn’t do basic journalistic due diligence and check the link, b) didn’t disclose the link led to a fundraiser, c) deleted the post, and d) are lying about all of this.
Bang up job, Kaitlan. https://t.co/CXs02dYIj9

LOL! why did you delete it? 😂
— Catturd ™ (@catturd2) February 16, 2025
Why’d you delete the post if it wasn’t you sharing a fundraising link (which it was).
— Robby Starbuck (@robbystarbuck) February 16, 2025
If that’s the case, then why delete it?
You know what you did was sick and twisted

You literally tweeted about it and then quickly deleted it once you started to receive backlash.
Don’t try to play stupid now. pic.twitter.com/DbvaX2CwqK— Leftism (@LeftismForU) February 16, 2025
You literally posted the link and deleted it when people started criticising you for it.
This is worse than the Bombay Club story! 👀👀👀 pic.twitter.com/bKVsrSE25l

Real bottom of the barrel stuff. Even for @kaitlancollins pic.twitter.com/OCrUQIkmwq

The defense attorney who created the website is a CNN contributor. https://t.co/R7bhWCRGMn

It’s pretty clear that @kaitlancollins is a troubled individual who used her platform to elevate a killers legal defense fund. Let’s remember, people show you who they are and she told us loudly all we need to know about her in that post. #KillerSupport https://t.co/2NOVXuNIpH

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt just took Collins down a few notches last week:
.@kaitlancollins asks about @AP reporter being barred from the Oval Office.@PressSec: “Nobody has the right to go into the Oval Office and ask the president of the United States questions…We reserve the right to decide who gets to go into the Oval Office.” pic.twitter.com/U7eR63y52G

Collins spoke out of turn during a signing in the Oval Office last week, and President Trump shut her down, reminding her that no one had asked her to speak yet.
Trump just SCORCHED Kaitlan Collins for speaking out of turn.
This is the Trump that we have all been waiting to see.

During a CNN town hall in 2023, Trump told Collins, “You’re a nasty person.”

That might quite possibly be an understatement 😉pic.twitter.com/OAn2UmPEcn
