From The Hill: CNN took down a tweet and attached an editor’s note to a story about an attempted terrorist attack in New York City earlier this week after facing a wave of backlash over the way the piece was framed.
In the since-deleted social media post, the outlet had said, “Two Pennsylvania teenagers crossed into New York City Saturday morning for what could’ve been a normal day enjoying the city during abnormally warm weather.”
“But in less than an hour, their lives would drastically change as the pair would be arrested for throwing homemade bombs during an anti-Muslim outside protest Mayor Mamdani’s home,” it continued.
The Justice Department indicted two people in connection with an attempted attack at the New York protest, Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi. Prosecutors say the pair attempted to detonate two explosive devices at the protest and referred to the terrorist group ISIS during their detention.
CNN is being slammed for their jaw-dropping tweet about the ISIS-inspired attack. The network has now deleted their original statement and added a new post that reads, “A post regarding the two individuals arrested for throwing homemade bombs outside of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s home failed to reflect the gravity of the incident thereby breaching the editorial standards we require for all our reporting. It has therefore been deleted.”
However, many X users are posting screenshots of the original tweet, still blasting the liberal network.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson posted a screenshot of a Google search and wrote, “CNN defends their egregious tweet by saying “the story itself was solid.” But Google indicates the story lede was the same as the tweet before it was seemingly edited.”

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) declared, “CNN got this headline wrong. It should be: “Two radical Islamic terrorists came to NYC pledging allegiance to ISIS with bombs meant to kill Americans”. There. Fixed it for you.”
