From The Hill: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of a specialty chocolate bar on Monday over concerns that the product may be contaminated with salmonella.
According to the agency, the company Spring Mulberry is voluntarily recalling one lot of its Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate Bar due to the possible contamination.
The issue was flagged after routine testing by a third-party laboratory. No illnesses have been reported related to the recall.
The affected chocolate bars were available for purchase online and at stores nationwide since September 15, 2025. They were sold in teal outer packaging and marked with the lot code #025255. The lot code can be found on the clear plastic inner wrapping.
In a press release announcing the recall, the FBI explained:
Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly individuals, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, infection can result in the organism entering the bloodstream and causing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis. Individuals experiencing these symptoms should seek medical attention immediately.
