From Fox Weather: The first major heat wave of the summer is firing up across the eastern half of the U.S. this week, with major cities along the Interstate 95 corridor like Washington, Philadelphia and New York City flirting with 100 degrees.
The expansive heat dome will have more than 190 million Americans in the East experiencing temperatures above 90 degrees, but it won’t just be the high temperatures that will make people feel miserable. Humidity, too, will soar, with dew points rising into the 70s.
That will make cities like Chicago, Cleveland, Louisville in Kentucky, Nashville in Tennessee and Raleigh in North Carolina feel well above 100 degrees.
It was so hot in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on Sunday that roads began to buckle, the report explains.
In a video reportedly submitted by Albert Blackwell, what looks like a huge speed bump in the street was caused by the heat causing the pavement to buckle. One car drives over the bump at regular speed and goes sailing through the air.

The City of Cape Girardeau then released a statement on Facebook:
Both Broadway and Siemers buckled in this heat wave. Thank you to the crews for managing traffic and the temporary fix on Seimers. We will return to temporary street patches to complete a full repair.
With more high temperatures expected this week, the city may experience more street buckling due to the heat. Please drive carefully and be mindful of city workers who will be out repairing streets. Stay safe out there!
