From Fox News: House Speaker Mike Johnson announced a new bathroom policy for the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday in response to controversy related to transgender Rep.-elect Sarah McBride, D-Del.

“All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings – such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms – are reserved for individuals of that biological sex,” Johnson, R-La., said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital. “It is important to note that each Member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol.”

“Women deserve women’s only spaces,” Johnson added.

“Like all policies, it is enforceable,” Johnson later told reporters. “But we have single-sex facilities for a reason, and women deserve women’s only spaces. And we’re not anti anyone. We’re pro-women, and I think it’s an important policy for us to continue. It’s always been the, I guess, an unwritten policy, but now it’s in writing.”

McBride, a biological man who now identifies as a woman, reacted to the new rule by releasing a statement.

In the statement, McBride says, “I’m not here to fight about bathrooms. I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families. Like all members, I will follow the rules as outlined by Speaker Johnson, even if I disagree with them.”

On Monday, McBride had sneered in a post on X, “This is a blatant attempt from far right-wing extremists to distract from the fact that they have no real solutions to what Americans are facing. We should be focused on bringing down the cost of housing, health care, and child care, not manufacturing culture wars.”

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who is a rape survivor, introduced legislation this week that would prohibit members, officers and employees of the House from using “single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex.”

“Thank you @SpeakerJohnson! This fight isn’t over just yet. We want to ban men from women’s spaces in EVERY federal building, school, public bathroom, everywhere,” Mace announced.

On Tuesday, Johnson confirmed in no uncertain terms that a man is a man and a woman is a woman.

“And a man cannot become a woman,” he declared.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) had a novel suggestion. She wrote:

Here’s my women’s bathroom proposal:

Instead of making a trans bathroom, we should make a Republican women’s bathroom and a Democrat women’s bathroom, so all the Democrat women who agree with men using the women’s bathroom can share their bathroom with the mentally ill trans biological men that they support.

But NO biological men, no matter what level of dress up they play, are allowed in the Republican women’s bathroom.

Responding to Johnson’s new new, Greene wrote, “On this Trans Day of Remembrance, Republicans are returning sanity to the Capitol, as well as recognizing God created only 2 genders, male and female, in his image. And the males will stay out of our bathrooms and women’s spaces.”

Mace announced she isn’t done, saying in a video that she is filing another bill Wednesday night that will ban biological men from women’s spaces on all federal properties, all across the country.

Conservative podcast host Monica Crowley wrote, “This is a @NancyMace Appreciation Post. Thank you, @RepNancyMace, for standing up for women & girls to have safe private spaces free from invasion by biological men. You are a heroine – and we stand with you!”

“Real women stick together,” Mace replied.
