REPORT: Amazon to cut thousands more jobs in latest round of layoffs

From News Nation: Amazon plans to cut roughly 16,000 jobs as part of what it called “organizational changes,” marking the company’s second round of mass layoffs since October.

Beth Galetti, a senior vice president, announced the move in a blog post early Wednesday morning, writing that, “While many teams finalized their organizational changes in October, other teams did not complete that work until now.”

In October, the company announced it was cutting 14,000 corporate roles as it expanded its investments in artificial intelligence. The last round of cuts completes the company’s plan to remove around 30,000 roles, Reuters reported, nearly 10% of its corporate workforce.

Galetti wrote in the blog post that the company would offer U.S.-based employees 90 days to find a new role internally and that transition support, including severance, would be provided.

According to Reuters the layoffs come as Amazon is utilizing artificial intelligence to become more efficient.

News National also reported that UPS is making a similar move: On Tuesday, UPS announced it would cut up to 30,000 jobs this year amid a shrinking delivery partnership with Amazon. In addition, company leadership said UPS plans to close 24 buildings in the first half of 2026 and continue deploying “automation” across the network.
