From the New York Post: It took nearly a year for a Lebanese illegal migrant who arrived under the Biden administration and admitted that he’s a Hezbollah terrorist hoping “to make a bomb” to get his deportation papers, Immigration and Customs Enforcement told The Post Monday.
Now, the Trump administration is working to finally boot him from the country.
New York-bound migrant Basel Bassel Ebbadi, 22, admitted his ties to the terrorist group, and ambitions when he was captured by border agents in El Paso, Texas, on March 9, 2024 — and was immediately held in federal custody.
During a medical screening in a processing center, Ebbadi was asked what he was doing in the US, to which he replied, “I’m going to try to make a bomb,” according to a Border Patrol document previously obtained by The Post.
Ebbadi was transferred to ICE nearly a week later with “order of expedited removal,” the agency said.
‘Administrative hurdles,’ along with Ebbadi’s 5-month prison sentence, reportedly delayed his deportation, but an immigration judge finally handed down his deportation order on January 13.
When he was first captured at the border, Ebbadi reportedly admitted that had received Hezbollah training focused on “jihad” and killing non-Muslims for seven years, and also served as weapons guard for the terrorist organization for four more years.
Ebbadi claimed he wanted to flee Lebanon and Hezbollah because he “didn’t want to kill people”, but said “once you’re in, you can never get out.”
He claimed his ID documents were stolen at knifepoint in Costa Rica.
Ebbadi is currently in ICE custody, pending his deportation.
