RED FLAG ALERT: Tucker Carlson speaks out on GOP senate leader race

Current Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had announced that he will be stepping down from his leadership role after the elections, so a vote will be held next week to elect a new GOP leader.

Now that Republicans have won majority in the Senate, whoever wins the spot will be the next Senate Majority Leader, bumping Democrat leader Chuck Schumer down to Minority Leader.

So far, three Republicans are running for the spot, but only one, Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, is viewed as a reliable Trump supporter.   The other two running for the spot, Sen. John Thune of South Dakota and Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, are considered to be “establishment” Republicans.

Much to the outrage of many conservatives, Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri has publicly endorsed Cornyn for the position.

Now conservative podcast host Tucker Carlson is speaking out.

In a Saturday afternoon post on social media, Carlson demanded, “What the hell is going on in the US Senate? Hours after Donald Trump wins the most conclusive mandate in 40 years, Mitch McConnell engineers a coup against his agenda by calling early leadership elections in the senate.”

“Two of the three candidates hate Trump and what he ran on. One of them, John Cornyn, is an angry liberal whose politics are indistinguishable from Liz Cheney’s. The election is Wednesday, it’s by secret ballot, and it will determine whether or not the new administration succeeds,” Carlson continued.

“Rick Scott of Florida is the only candidate who agrees with Donald Trump. Call your senator and demand a public endorsement of Rick Scott. Don’t let McConnell get away with it again,” he added.

Carlson’s post has gotten over 2.6 million views and nearly 5,000 comments as of this report.

DMLNewsApp and TeamDML.com founder Dennis Michael Lynch responded to Carlson’s post with one word: “AGREED.”

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) wrote, “President Trump needs Rick Scott as Majority Leader to shepherd his bold agenda through the U.S. Senate!”

Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) wrote, “I could not agree more! This is why I endorsed
@ScottforFlorida months ago – he is the best person to lead the America First agenda in the Senate.”

Paul A. Szypula responded, “Mitch McConnell is trying to sink the Trump administration before it even begins. We all knew this was coming. Rick Scott is the best choice for Senate Majority Leader. John Cornyn is one of the worst. This pick matters.”

Alex Hernandez wrote, “Yes. Our senator @HawleyMO is endorsing John Cornyn. I’ve already told Josh that this is unacceptable. I hope my fellow Missourians will agree and let him know as well. Don’t mess this up Josh….we voted for you to represent us, not represent the RINO establishment. Get it right.”

“He hasn’t responded. Plenty of people screaming at him. He has his RINO muffs on, apparently,” Hernandez added.
