RED FLAG ALERT: Conservatives sound alarm in opposition to Trump’s DEA pick over Covid-era actions

President-elect Donald Trump is getting some strong opposition to his nominee for DEA administrator, Florida sheriff Chad Chronister.

Trump announced in a Truth Social post on Saturday:

“I am pleased to nominate Sheriff Chad Chronister for Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). For over 32 years, Sheriff Chad Chronister has served the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and received countless commendations and awards for keeping his community SAFE. A proud graduate of the FBI National Academy’s 260th Session, Chad is Co-Chairman of the Regional Domestic Security Task Force for Region IV Tampa Bay, Council Member of the Florida Attorney General’s Statewide Council on Human Trafficking, Chairman of the Criminal Justice Sub-Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Hillsborough County Public Safety Coordinating Council, and Vice-Chairman of the Hillsborough County Public Schools Citizen Oversight Committee.

“As DEA Administrator, Chad will work with our great Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to secure the Border, stop the flow of Fentanyl, and other Illegal Drugs, across the Southern Border, and SAVE LIVES. Congratulations to Chad, his wife Nikki, and two wonderful sons!”

However, Chronister once arrested a pastor for defying Covid lockdowns, and some people aren’t forgetting it.

In March 2020, Chronister had announced on Twitter, “Announcing the arrest of Dr. Ronald Howard-Browne, Pastor of The River at Tampa Bay Church, who intentionally and repeatedly disregarded state and local public health orders, which put his congregation and our community in danger”

The charges against the pastor were later dropped.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) objected to the nomination, writing, “I’m going to call ‘em like I see ‘em. Trump’s nominee for head of DEA should be disqualified for ordering the arrest a pastor who defied COVID lockdowns.”

Conservative Liz Churchill replied to Chronister’s old tweet, writing, “You belong in the same prison that you put @rhowardbrowne in. You’re a criminal and a LIAR.”

In another post, Churchill wrote, “NO! He SHOULD NOT be the DEA Director because he ARRESTED Pastors during the ‘Covid’ SCAM. @rhowardbrowne is a HERO.”

Conservative commentator Liz Wheeler wrote, “Trump’s pick for DEA head Chad Chronister withheld taxpayer money from unvaccinated deputies if they got sick. He gave taxpayer money to vaxxed deputies. Despicable. Please, Pres. Trump, withdraw this nomination. The last thing we need in federal law enforcement is more tyranny.”

Wheeler added, “Sheriff Chad Chronister forced a curfew on you during COVID. That means threatening to arrest you if you left your house. He abused power then, he’ll do it again at DEA. Let’s tell Trump no on Chronister.”

Republican Antony Sabatini demanded, “THIS MAN’S NOMINATION MUST BE BLOCKED. HE WAS A TYRANT DURING COVID 👇 I HAD TO SUE HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY TO STOP THE INSANITY HE CREATED. WE NEED A DEA DIRECTOR WHO BELIEVES IN FREEDOM.”

Sean Davis, CEO and co-founder of The Federalist, wrote, “Chad Chronister is a woke, BLM-excusing, DEI-enforcing, immigration law-ignoring buffoon. There are thousands of solid sheriffs in this country who are far more qualified to run DEA than this left-wing clown.”

Conservative consultant Spence Rogers blasted out a lengthy, must-read warning:

I am from Tampa Bay, Florida. I have followed Chad Chronister’s career and people are asking me why he is a bad pick to be head of DEA. Conservatives here do not support Chronister. Chronister is a woke and weak Democrat plant and will backstab President Trump. He cannot be trusted! Here are some of the reasons:

His office promotes transgendering teens by participating in the Tampa Pride event and created a liaison office for transgenders and other pride affiliates.

Chronister expanded his office’s DEI programs and has been a major proponent of anti-white male discrimination by removing merit as a primary role of advancement, turning to race and gender-based hiring and promotion policies.

In March of 2020, he arrested a local pastor who kept his church open during Covid. The pastor spent $100k to upgrade his church’s air and filtration system, making his church safe for those who wish to attend services. Nonetheless, Chronister arrested him and held a press conference touting the arrest.

He is a big Democrat donor. He gave money to Democrats Barack Obama, Mayor Jane Castor, Congresswoman Kathy Castor, Congressman Charlie Crist and the DNC.

Chronister is weak on crime. He released a criminal with 35 priors who then went out shortly after his release and murdered someone.

He was weak during the BLM riots, having his deputies stand down as rioters destroyed property, including a gate at the county jail. His office was generally slow to respond during the BLM riots, when other sheriff’s offices around the state were out in full force.
