Below is the entire 323-page ruling by a panel of five judges on a New York Appeals Court just released Thursday morning, which tosses out the massive civil fraud penalty against President Donald Trump.
New York Attorney General Letitia James had brought the case against Trump, accusing him of mis-representing the value of his property in order to get better deals on mortgage loans and insurance – despite that no banks or insurance companies had filed any complaints.
The initial $364 million fine against Trump, the Trump Organization, and his two eldest sons, had ballooned into a whopping $527 million with interest added on.
The justices agreed the fine was “excessive,” and at least one of the judges basically accused James of going on a political witch hunt.
The New York Post further explained:
Still, the five-judge panel kept in place a ban on Trump and his two eldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, from running a company in New York for several years. And the ruling kept in place an order for an outside monitor to oversee and file reports on the Trump Organization’s business dealings for three years.
Those parts of the ruling had been on hold while the appeal was decided. And Trump posted a $175 million bond in place of paying the entire judgment during the appeal process.
