General Mike Flynn, who briefly served as National Security Advisor during president Donald Trump’s first term in office, released a statement Wednesday night in tribute to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated earlier today.
Flynn’s tribute reads as follows:
Today and tomorrow, our country will and should fall silent in anguish and disbelief.
Take a deep breath, close your eyes and say a prayer for those close to Charlie Kirk, especially his wife and children, as we are all reminded what is most important in this life.
What’s important are the exact things that Charlie Kirk stood for. God, Family, and our Freedoms.
Charlie has been a missionary across all of America to our young adults and shown the courage to preach TRUTH and LOVE throughout our University Campuses and beyond.
He was filled with power from the Holy Spirit.
He will never be replaced and the love he received from across this country will not fade.
A TRUE WARRIOR for GOD and TRUTH.
We must stay close to our God, especially in these difficult days, as this is something Charlie Kirk taught me personally.
FOR NOW, just hold and pray.
John 15:13 … Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
The highest form of love is to make the ultimate sacrifice for others.
Charlie Kirk demonstrated that on a daily basis in the way he lived and loved life.
We all need to take time to consider how, in life, he sacrificed on a daily basis.
Using Charlie’s example, maybe each of us has it in ourselves to give a little bit more.
