From Breitbart: Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) revealed that he was going to be introducing a bill that would abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), claiming that ICE was “beyond reform.”
During a press conference on Wednesday, Thanedar accused ICE of being “totally out of control.” Thanedar also accused ICE of “working beyond control” under Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem’s “leadership.”
Thanedar went on to add that he was “proud to have co-sponsored a resolution” to impeach Noem, accusing her of misusing “taxpayer funds,” lying to his “homeland security committee,” and “leading an agency, leading ICE, that is committing crimes across America.”
Thanedar, 70, was born in India. He came to the United States in 1979 to attend the University of Arkron in Ohio, and became a U.S. citizen in 1988. Thanedar first served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. He has served in the U.S. Congress since January 2023.
Speaking in broken English, Thanedar claimed that ICE is out murdering American citizens in our communities, and said they “must be brought to justice.”
He declared that ICE is beyond reform, out of control, and must be abolished.
“We need to make ICE go away,” he said, announcing that he will be introducing a bill to abolish ICE.

In April, Thanedar announced he had filed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump. One of the reasons he gave was due to Trump’s “attack on birthright citizenship.” The effort obviously was never taken up by House Speaker Mike Johnson.
