‘QUITE CHILLING’: Seattle man caught on video trying to do the unthinkable at train platform — TWICE

4

From Fox NewsA man accused of trying to push a stranger into the path of an oncoming train in Seattle is now facing an attempted murder charge and the moment was caught on video.

The incident unfolded at the busy Northgate light rail station, where a man was standing on the platform waiting for a northbound train when, investigators say, the suspect, Elisio Melendez, suddenly came up behind him and tried to shove him onto the tracks as the train approached.

Prosecutors say the attack appeared deliberate.

Surveillance video shows Melendez “carefully timed his assault,” waiting until the train entered the station before attempting to push the victim, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The victim avoided the potentially deadly fall, but the suspect pushed the victim a second time. Again, the victim prevailed and turned to chase the suspect away.

The suspect was captured by police at a nearby mental health community center, where he lived, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

“This story ends with great work by our Sound Transit deputies who took a dangerous person off the streets,” the King County Sheriff’s Office said.

The office called the images of the incident “quite chilling.”
