From NY Post: Bryan Kohberger’s former criminology professor fears she may have inspired him to slaughter the four University of Idaho students whom he’s expected on Wednesday to plead guilty to murdering — and now wants to study him to determine how the red flags were missed.
“I have to look at the framework of what I taught and wonder, did I inspire him in some way?” Dr. Katherine Ramsland, who taught Kohberger at Pennsylvania’s DeSales University, told NewsNation on Tuesday.
The forensic psychologist spoke out one day after her ex-student accepted a plea deal over the 2022 slayings, which is expected to see him pleading guilty at a hearing on Wednesday.
Ramsland acknowledged that serial-killer courses like hers may plant ideas, but says “unfortunately, in this field, that’s what we live with.”
Ramsland, who was Kohberger’s adviser, now wants to study him as a research subject, as she never suspected him of mental illness and saw no “red flags.”.
“There really isn’t anything that stood out to me,” she said, noting that there are often signs she typically sees in the psychos she’s studied.
“He seemed eager to be in the classroom. He was polite, he was respectful, intense and curious,” she said.
“I really thought Bryan Kohberger was a promising student who really could have made a mark in this career in a very positive way,” she added.
Ramsland has offered to interview Kohberger to identify warning signs and triggers.
