Former President Trump indicated Wednesday that his legal battle with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos won’t prevent him from debating Vice President Kamala Harris on the Disney-owned network.
Speaking on “FOX & Friends,” Trump accused the media of trying to portray Harris as a liberal equivalent of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and noted that she hasn’t given an interview since President Biden was removed from the ticket.
Trump is suing Stephanopoulos for falsely stating on air in March that Trump was found “liable for rape” in a civil case. Recently, Trump achieved a courtroom victory when ABC’s attempt to dismiss the defamation lawsuit was unsuccessful. Despite the lawsuit, Trump agreed to the ABC debate in May, originally planned against Joe Biden, two months after filing the suit.
Many have speculated and commented on whether Trump should debate Harris, considering ABC’s bias. Some argue that it is necessary to prove Harris is an inept candidate, while others believe that the moderators will not treat the debate fairly and that it will tilt in Harris’ favor.
