The Trump administration is reportedly looking to sell a building in San Francisco, named after former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The Nancy Pelosi Federal Building, an 18-story, 640,000-square-foot building, was completed in 2007.
The building is reportedly heavily patrolled, but appears to have few people actually working in it.
According to ABC7 News, the Trump administration says it will save money by avoiding maintenance on the buildings, selling the properties, then leasing office space for federal workers.
The Trump administration is also considering selling a federal building in San Bruno that stores national immigration archives.

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said on Saturday, “Taxpayers should not be footing the bill for Nancy Pelosi’s vanity project which is a threat to public safety and a waste of taxpayer money. I was the first to call for it to be shut down in 2023! Let’s put it on the auction block today.”

Democrats are fuming over the suggestion that the building may be sold.
Former Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) raged, “It’s another example of how he is coming after Democrats. He’s coming after California, and it’s all about payback.”
Pelosi gushed with delight over having the building named after her during a ceremony in December, when the building was re-dedicated as “Speaker Nancy Pelosi Federal Building.”

In October 2023, Sen. Ernst had called for the building to be sold:
An abandoned tower looms 18-stories into the sky. Zombie-like bodies with blank stares shake & stumble about aimlessly, criminals wield weapons & shoot firearms. This isn’t the backdrop of a Halloween haunted house. It’s the Nancy Pelosi Federal Building in San Francisco.
The conditions are so frightening, federal employees have been warned to stay away indefinitely. Hundreds were warned to stop coming to the office “for the foreseeable future” due to safety concerns with crime and violence outside.

According to its designer, the building was set up to represent “the way government should be and how the workplace should be.” Ironically, the Nancy Pelosi Federal Building is instead a symbol of the way government doesn’t work.

Working at an @HHSGov building shouldn’t be a risk to your health, or life! That’s why I am giving my October 2023 #SquealAward to Nancy Pelosi and the other liberal San Francisco politicians who have allowed criminal chaos to overtake the streets of the city.
